English Singing Translation of:

Johannes Brahms: Über die Heide, Opus 86, No. 4 (SMB #118)

(The loneliness of the field; text by Storm)

Over the heath resounds my step; echoes from earth do follow me. Autumn has come and spring is so far! Was there not once a glad-hearted time? Vaporous mists like ghosts surround me, plant life is black and the sky is so bleak. If only I had not walked here in May! Life and love how they flew by!

(Approx. performance timing: 3:35)
