English Singing Translation of:

Johannes Brahms: Sommerabend, Opus 85, No. 1 (SMB #117a)

(Summer evening; text by Heine)

Dimming light of summer evening over woods and greening meadows; golden moon in bluest heaven shining down so fragrantly, so fresh. By the brook now chirps the cricket, and a stirring in the water, and the traveler hears a splashing and a breathing in the silence. Down there by the brook alone, bathing sweet the lovely fairy; Arms and neck so white and lovely, shimm'ring in the moonlight.
