English Singing Translation of:

Johannes Brahms: Nachtwandler, Opus 86, No. 3 (SMB #111)

(Sleepwalker; text by Kalbeck)

Stir not the light, soft slumber of the one in dreams enfolded. Leave him with his sweet care, all his painful longing! Sorrows and all dangers threaten, but these cares will not him frighten if you let him sleep so happy, with not a harsh word to awaken. Silently in dreams so lost he gently walks over yawning chasms, as if moonlight made him drunk; woe to the lips that would call him!
