English Singing Translation of:

Johannes Brahms: Mondnacht, published in 1854 (SMB #110)

(Moonlight night; text by von Eichendorff)

It was as if from heaven, the earth so still was kissed, with all the blossoms shining, the earth in dreamful rest. A breeze passed thru the fields; the ears of grain were rocked, the rustle of the woods, so starry clear the night. And my own soul spread its wings so wide flying thru' silent space as if it was flying home.

(Approx. performance timing: 4:15)
